Why visit
- Meknes is the underrated imperial city — smaller, calmer, and more walkable than Fes, with Moulay Ismail's over-the-top 17th-century monumental gates and granaries. Volubilis is Morocco's single best Roman site, with in-situ mosaics and the footprint of a complete provincial city. Seeing them together, on the same day, gives you a fast view of 2,000 years of the country's layered imperial history.
