Why visit
- The Royal Palace of Fez, in the Fes el-Jdid district, is famous for its monumental golden brass gates on Place des Alaouites.
- The seven gates are a masterpiece of modern Moroccan craftsmanship, combining engraved brass doors with zellij mosaic and carved cedar.
- The current gates were built between 1969 and 1971, when King Hassan II reoriented the palace entrance toward the new square.
