Mausoleum of Mohammed V

ROYAL MAUSOLEUM

The Mausoleum of Mohammed V holds the tomb of the king who led Morocco to independence in 1956, along with his two sons, Hassan II and Moulay Abdallah. Designed by the Vietnamese architect Cong Vo Toan and finished in 1971 after twelve years of work, it's a showcase of traditional Moroccan crafts — carved cedar, zellige mosaic, and onyx calligraphy — under a signature green-tiled pyramid roof. Entry is free and non-Muslims are welcome inside, unlike most royal-Islamic sites in the country.
