Le Trou au Mur

Le Trou au Mur is a chic, intimate restaurant in the north-east Marrakech Medina, housed in a multi-level riad next to Riad Farnatchi near the Madrasa Ben Youssef. The kitchen revives traditional Moroccan home recipes that have quietly disappeared from restaurant menus — dishes a Marrakchi grandmother might cook — alongside a short list of international comfort food. The signature is slow-roasted mechoui lamb from a clay oven, alongside heritage dishes like tihane, m'rouzia, tride, and tangia. Guests eat across three levels: the fire-warmed interior rooms downstairs and an open-air roof garden on top. A proper bar with an all-Moroccan wine list and a long cocktail menu sets it apart deep in the old city.
