Ksar Essaoussan
16th-century riad palace restaurant in the Marrakech medina
Ksar Essaoussan is a traditional Moroccan palace restaurant tucked inside a 16th-century riad in the Marrakech medina, roughly 350 metres from Jemaa el-Fnaa and steps from the Koutoubia mosque.
The restaurant occupies one of the oldest riads in the medina, its carved plasterwork and cedar ceilings preserved across five centuries. Guests are received in small intimate salons arranged around a central courtyard — a setting that has remained largely unchanged since the building's origins.
Dinner is served as a set menu featuring the full arc of Moroccan hospitality: aperitif, Moroccan salads, a choice of tagine, couscous, or pigeon pastilla, followed by dessert and mint tea. Reservations are recommended, particularly during peak season.
