Le Grand Comptoir
Iconic 1930s Parisian brasserie on Avenue Mohammed V
Le Grand Comptoir is Rabat's most celebrated French brasserie, set in a beautifully restored 1930s building at 279 Avenue Mohammed V, steps from Rabat Ville station. Its Belle Époque interior — dark wood panelling, a sweeping Hollywood staircase, and an art-deco glass chandelier — has made it a landmark in the Moroccan capital since it reopened under Yann and Louis-Bernard Lechartier. Chef Richard Meyniel's seasonal menu champions classic French bistro cooking: oysters, foie gras terrine, braised lamb shoulder, choucroute in winter, and grilled lobster when the catch allows. Upstairs, the Laô Bar and the GC Wine Tastin' mezzanine draw after-work crowds with wines by the glass and charcuterie boards.
