Volubilis is an ancient Roman city about 33 km from Meknes, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997. Once the capital of the Roman province of Mauretania Tingitana, its excavated ruins include a triumphal arch, a basilica, a capitol and dozens of houses with remarkably preserved floor mosaics.
