Why visit
- Volubilis, near Meknes, is the best-preserved Roman archaeological site in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.
- It was the capital of Mauretania Tingitana and grew into a prosperous provincial city of around 20,000 people.
- Its ruins spread across an open hillside, giving a rare sense of the full plan of a Roman town.
