Why visit
- Talassemtane National Park is the protected mountain backdrop of Chefchaouen: 589.5 km² of Rif ridges, gorges and forest created in October 2004.
- It holds Morocco's only native Spanish fir forest, plus Atlas cedar and more than 1,380 plant species, 47 of them endemic to the country.
- Barbary macaques, Greek tortoises and over 100 bird species — including the bearded vulture — make it an Important Bird Area.
