Why visit
- The medina of Chefchaouen is Morocco's famous 'Blue City' old town, its lanes washed in every shade of blue high in the Rif Mountains.
- Founded in 1471 by Ali ibn Rashid, it was later settled by Andalusian Muslims and Jews who fled Spain after 1492.
- Steep, car-free alleys lead to the central square, the Kasbah and the Grand Mosque with its octagonal minaret.
