Zellige & Mosaic in Morocco

All zellige & mosaic across Morocco

Zellige and tile-painting workshops in Morocco introduce travelers to the country's most iconic decorative craft — hand-cut geometric mosaic that has adorned palaces, madrasas and fountains for centuries. Fez is the traditional heart of the trade, home to master artisans who still cut and chip glazed tiles by hand, and most beginner-friendly workshops sit in the medina or the surrounding pottery quarters. Sessions typically last one to three hours and cover the basic vocabulary of shapes, colour palettes, and simple star or rosette assemblies; longer half-day formats let you paint your own coaster, tray or tile piece to take home. Studios welcome all ages and skill levels, and providers supply materials, aprons and step-by-step guidance, so no prior craft experience is needed. Late morning and afternoon slots are most common year-round. Reserve for free on MaJourneys, we confirm by WhatsApp, and you pay the local provider on arrival.
