Assoufid Golf Club sits 10 km from the Marrakech medina, a desert-style 18-hole course laid out across a 222-hectare estate of palm, olive and cacti.
It was designed by Niall Cameron, a Scottish designer and former European Tour player, and opened for play in October 2014 — his first golf course design.
The routing follows the shaaba, a dry river bed that cuts through the property and comes into play on several holes.
Only 45% of the course is planted, a deliberate choice to limit water consumption in a desert setting; existing trees were retained and palm, cacti and olive added.
The club has been named Africa's Best Golf Course at the World Golf Awards in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
