Café Maure is the classic sunset stop in Rabat — a stepped café terrace built into the ramparts of the Kasbah of the Udayas, with whitewashed walls, blue benches, a single orange tree, and a view straight across the Bou Regreg estuary to the walls of Salé. The menu is deliberately narrow: mint tea, Moroccan coffee, almond cookies, gazelle-horn pastries, and small sweets sold from a glass counter. Cash only, no alcohol, extended daylight hours.
How to combine
- Natural close to any Kasbah of the Udayas walk. Enter through Bab Oudaia, walk the blue-and-white lanes, visit the Andalusian Gardens, finish on this terrace for sunset. Continue down to the medina or the marina for dinner.
