Imouzzer Ida Outanane is a Berber mountain village at 1,200 m altitude, ~60 km north of Agadir, reached via the Asif Tamraght gorge and Paradise Valley on the P1001. The region is Morocco's most famous thyme-honey producer (annual festival in May) and home to the seasonal 'Bride's Veil' cascades.
What to expect
- A scenic 1.5-hour drive from Agadir up the P1001, passing the Asif Tamraght gorge and Paradise Valley, then climbing to the village. The waterfall trailhead is signed from the village; reaching the pool involves a steep 4 km walk.
Best time
- February to May for flowing cascades and green slopes. May coincides with the honey festival. Avoid late summer if the cascades are your main goal.
How to combine
- Pair with Paradise Valley on the way up or down — both sit on the same P1001 corridor north of Agadir. Build in time for a tagine in the village and to buy thyme honey direct from local producers.
Price range
- Free: Imouzzer des Ida Outanane is a village and its waterfalls sit on open ground below it. There is no ticket office and no admission fee — the regional tourism board's own page lists no permit, guide or entry charge.
- Money only changes hands for extras: the attended car park at the trailhead, a mule for the walk down, a local guide if you want one. None of these is published anywhere, so agree the amount before you accept the service.
- The falls are seasonal and cost you a wasted drive rather than money if you time it wrong — they run after the winter rains and can be dry by late summer, when the mountain road, the argan groves and the honey villages are the reason to go.
