Menara Gardens

12th-century Almohad olive grove and reservoir

Founded in 1157 by Almohad caliph Abd al-Mu'min, the Menara is a working agricultural estate of olive groves arranged around a 195 × 160 m reservoir, with a 19th-century pavilion on its eastern bank. UNESCO inscribed it in 1985 as part of the Marrakech medina World Heritage Site.

The olive groves around the reservoir are a public park and free to walk in. The 1870 pavilion on the east side of the basin charges a small entry fee for visits to the upper floor and balcony.
