TÉTOUAN'S MOUNTAIN

Chat with us
Jebel Dersa is the limestone mountain that frames Tétouan's skyline, rising sharply behind the medina. Reaching around 1,600 m, it is the city's natural gym — a network of old paths and tracks climbs from the eastern edge of town through pine and cistus toward cliff-top viewpoints. A half-day hike to the first ridge delivers the best possible view over the UNESCO medina, the Ensanche, and the Mediterranean at Martil beyond.

FAQs

Not strictly for the lower ridge — the path from Bab el-Oqla/Bab Sebta is visible and well-trodden. For upper routes or less-used paths, a local guide from a Tétouan trekking outfit is worth it; the hillside is criss-crossed with shepherd tracks.
