La Maison de Tanger stands on Rue Al Mabarra, a quiet residential street close enough to the Grand Socco and the medina to walk, far enough to sleep. It is a house rather than a hotel: five rooms and three suites, each different, decorated in a neo Moroccan manner and open to the light. The garden is the centre of it, roughly 600 square metres of planting around a swimming pool, with the dining room opening straight onto it. Rooms look at the garden, the Strait of Gibraltar or the mountains, and several have their own terrace. The furnished roof terrace takes in the Strait, the Rif and the bay of Tangier at once. Moroccan dishes are served on request, and a hammam and massages can be arranged. Choose it when you want a garden and a pool in Tangier without leaving the walkable part of the city.
Rue Al Mabarra is in the quiet residential band just above the medina, between the Grand Socco and the Ville Nouvelle. The souks and the Kasbah are a short walk uphill and north, the port is around ten minutes on foot down to the east, and the cafes of the new town are a similar distance south. Tangier Ibn Battouta airport is roughly 10 km away.
