Sofitel Rabat Jardin des Roses takes its name from its gardens, and the name is earned. The hotel sits inside roughly eight hectares of Andalusian gardens planted with close to three thousand rose bushes, on rising ground in Souissi, the embassy and palace quarter south of the centre. Rooms look over the gardens, the pools or the eucalyptus woods. There are 147 rooms and 82 suites. The interiors are by the French designer Didier Gomez, who set bright modern colour against neutral ground and Moroccan craft. Outside there are heated and unheated pools and a tennis court; inside, a large Sofitel spa with a hammam and a sauna, and a fitness centre. The hotel keeps several restaurants and bars, including the So Lounge, which is a Rabat night out in its own right. Choose it when you want gardens and quiet, and do not mind a short drive to the medina.
