The Oberoi Marrakech stands on the Route de Ouarzazate on the eastern edge of the city, in 28 acres of citrus orchards and old olive groves with views toward the Atlas Mountains. Its central courtyard is modelled on the Medersa Ben Youssef, the Koranic college in the medina, and a long water channel the hotel calls the Grand Canal runs through the gardens. Accommodation is a mix of deluxe rooms with private terraces and villas set in walled gardens, most of them with their own pool. The Oberoi Spa has private therapy suites, and there is a temperature-controlled 30 metre outdoor pool and a 20 metre indoor pool. Rivayat serves Indian cooking under chef Rohit Ghai, alongside an international restaurant, a lighter poolside option and a wine and cocktail bar. This is a place to stay inside the grounds rather than in the souks. The medina and Jemaa el Fna are about 25 minutes away by car, and the hotel runs a shuttle into central Marrakech.
