This is the Bab Doukkala end of the medina, about 1.2 km northwest of Jemaa el Fna, which is roughly twenty minutes on foot. Being at the edge of the walls means quieter lanes than the souk quarter and an easier meeting point with a taxi outside the gate, at the cost of a longer walk to the square. Derb Jdid is a pedestrian lane, so the final stretch is on foot.
