Sofitel Agadir Royal Bay Resort stands on the beach in Cite Founty, the hotel strip that runs south along the bay of Agadir. The architecture borrows the riad plan and enlarges it: the pools sit in the middle of an enclosed courtyard, linked by waterways and crossed by bridges, with cabanas around the edge. Rooms and suites face the sea, the larger suites adding panoramic terraces, and five villas have their own oceanfront pool. The Sofitel Spa is on the garden level and works with Moroccan rituals alongside Asian ones, with argan oil massages, clay wraps, a steam bath and a sauna. Access to the beach is direct from the grounds. This is the Agadir stay for the beach and the pools rather than for the town, which is a short drive north.
Cite Founty is the planned resort quarter along the southern part of the bay, a run of hotels between the road and the sand. It is quiet and made for staying put; the beach in front is the long one Agadir is known for. The town centre, the marina and Souk El Had are a short drive north, and Agadir Al Massira airport is about 25 km southeast.
