Why visit
- La Palmeraie in Marrakech is a historic palm oasis of more than 100,000 date palms, traditionally traced back to the city's Almoravid founding in the 11th century.
- It offers a green counterpoint to the medina, with sandy tracks through the palms popular for camel rides, quad and buggy tours and horse-drawn caleches.
- The grove was made possible by khettaras, an ancient network of underground water channels carrying groundwater from the Atlas foothills.
