How far is Ouzoud from Marrakech?

Ouzoud is about 150 kilometres northeast of Marrakech and 36 kilometres from the town of Azilal. It is normally visited as a full-day trip.

Are there monkeys at the Ouzoud Waterfalls?

Yes. Wild Barbary macaques live in the trees along the gorge and are often seen on the path down to the pools. They are wild animals, not a managed attraction, so visitors are asked not to feed or touch them.

The Ouzoud Waterfalls fall about 110 metres in three tiers — the longest single drop measures 75 metres — into the gorge of the El-Abid river in Azilal Province, roughly 150 kilometres northeast of Marrakech. The site lies at around 1,060 metres altitude among red sandstone cliffs, olive groves and small traditional oil mills, and wild Barbary macaques live in the trees around the pools. It is classified as a SIBE, a site of biological and ecological interest.
