Musée de Marrakech
Moroccan art in a restored medina palace
The Musée de Marrakech occupies the Dar Menebhi Palace, an early-20th-century mansion in the medina restored by the Omar Benjelloun Foundation and opened as a museum in 1997. Its covered central courtyard, crowned by a huge brass chandelier and lined with zellij tilework and carved cedar, displays Moroccan carpets, costumes, ceramics, weapons and Berber jewellery alongside contemporary art. It stands on Ben Youssef square, beside the Almoravid Koubba and the Ben Youssef Madrasa.
