Why visit
- The Port of Essaouira is one of Morocco's major working fishing harbours in Essaouira, filled with bright blue wooden boats that land sardines and conger eel daily.
- The Skala du Port bastion, built in the 1760s, guards the harbour entrance with a square tower and a row of bronze cannons facing the Atlantic.
- You reach the quays through the Porte de la Marine, the sea gate raised in 1769 to link the fortified medina to the docks.
