Bab el-Oqla

EASTERN MEDINA GATE

Bab el-Oqla (also spelled Bab Okla) is the eastern gate of Tétouan's UNESCO medina, one of seven historic portals in the Almohad-era ramparts. Just inside the gate are the Ethnographic Museum, Dar Sanaa's artisan school, and a short walk to the tanneries. Outside the gate, the road climbs toward Jebel Dersa and the Martil road — making Bab el-Oqla the most useful entry for first-time visitors focused on crafts and museums.

FAQ

For first visits yes. It opens directly onto the Ethnographic Museum and Dar Sanaa artisan school, and puts you a short walk from the tanneries and the leather souk — the densest cluster of "what to see" sights in one corner of the medina.
